Liz says: Of the Secret Wars offshoots, Planet Hulk has been one of my favorites. An uncomplicated sci-fi adventure story with lovely art and a whiff of eighties Spielberg about it (Captain America and the Temple of DOOM! Pun intended) in which a bare-chested, ponytailed Steve Rogers and his dinosaur sidekick (that’s Devil Dinosaur to you) must brave the wild jungles of Greenland to rescue his imprisoned comrade, Bucky. Steve is forced to partner up with Doc Green, who becomes an unlikely ally and guide through what is essentially a Gamma-irradiated Savage Land with mutated Hulk-monsters jumping out of the bushes at every turn. So is this team-up going to go the way of the buddy movie or is Doc Green as untrustworthy as he seems? I’ll look forward to finding out.
