Liz says: I haven’t laughed this much at a first issue in who knows how long. Nick Spencer and Steve Lieber (the creative duo behind unsung-gem ‘Superior Foes of Spider-man’) do it again with this hilariously twisted and twisty crime book that is lewd, violent, a little bit sick and a whole lot wrong.

A black comedy in the spirit of nineties Tarantino, this issue is packed to the gills with plot, character introductions, and comedic tangent. Yet, when you think you’ve got it all figured out, it veers hard in the opposite direction and takes you on a completely different trip. I liked it from the first panel and was completely on board from the big reveal that happens about a third of the way through; then the story just kept on going and getting funnier and more elaborate than I’d ever have guessed at the outset. I really enjoyed it – it’s the standout book of the week, and then some.
